Welcome to Megumi Studios – Bringing Meaningful Beauty into Everyday Life
Hello, and welcome to my site.
I’m Megumi Yoshida — an artist and designer creating works that connect art, design, and mindful living.
My path began in architecture, industrial design, and graphic design, and has led me to explore ceramics, painting, and photography. Along the way, I often questioned the differences between design, craft, and art. Over time, I came to realize that art is more than something to look at. It is an experience — a way of reconnecting with ourselves and the world around us, carrying a deeper meaning.
It is not difficult to create something that looks appealing. Trends can be copied, shapes can be imitated. Yet I began to question filling our living spaces with mass-produced “fast-decor” objects. Our homes are where we rest, recharge, and gather energy. Shouldn’t they be filled, at least in part, with works created with intention — pieces that carry the heart, meaning, and message of the maker?
Of course, it is not always possible to furnish everything with one-of-a-kind or custom pieces. But even adding a few handmade works among everyday items can transform the energy and spirit of a space. This, I feel, echoes the philosophy of wabi-sabi — finding depth and beauty in imperfection, and in the balance between the simple and the meaningful.
For me, creating is about noticing the quiet beauty in everyday life, pausing to feel the present moment, and giving thanks. The silent rhythm of nature, the imperfect textures of handmade work, the fleeting play of light across a surface — these subtle yet profound moments are the true source of my art. And in each work, I aim to share these learnings and reflections as a message.
Through this site, I will share not only new works and collections, but also inspiration, stories from the studio, and daily reflections. It is my hope that my creations, however small, will encourage you to discover moments of stillness, clarity, joy — and the gentle happiness found in the everyday.
Thank you so much for visiting at this very beginning.
I look forward to growing this space together with you.
Warmly,
Megumi
